Dedicated to spreading God’s word through music, First Congregational enjoys music of all kinds and our worship reflects the variety of styles we have come to appreciate. Music groups provide their music ministry from September 1stthrough May 31st.
The Chancel choir provides music for Sunday worship, singing Anthems, Spirituals, and contemporary as well as traditional music. It has approximately 25 members, and rehearses regularly from 7:15pm – 8:45pm on Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary and performs on the first and third Sunday of the month. At Easter and Christmas, the choir has usually performs a Cantata as part of the service. Music is performed to either pre-recorded tracks or to Accompanist Emily Rendall-Araujo, who is also a choir member.We invite adults at least 18 years of age to join the choir and be a part of our long tradition of musical excellence and inspiration! On the fourth Sunday of every month, our Exultation Group provides contemporary music for the congregation, singing to pre-recorded music. This group is comprised of four individuals: Keith Falk, Laurie Volkomener, Connie Wittkopp, and Tom Bartenstein.
Broken Chains Band
On the second Sunday of every month our local music group, Broken Chains, performs live music for our contemporary service. The group consists of: Marshall Otte, vocals and keyboards; Bill Rathman, bass; Lora Jacoby, vocals and guitar; and Hannah Rendall, vocals. They have been sharing their music with First Congregational UCC for over 20 years. They also periodically travel to other congregations to provide music for worship services.
